UKMT Junior Maths Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency to make students think. JMC is aimed at year 8 students and below. Starting with with the Junior Maths Challenge, with Kangaroo and Olympiad as follow-on rounds, these are designated to challenge and engage the students.

Entry Requirement

Schools must be in the UK, a Crown Dependency or be a British International School

Junior Kangaroo; Junior Mathematical Olympiad(JMO)

Time Limit

60 minutes

Scoring

5 marks for each correct answer for Questions 1-15
6 marks for each correct answer to Questions 16-25

Age Group

13 years or younger

25 Multiple choice challenge

Awards

Top-scoring 50% receives Bronze, Silver, and Gold certificates in the ratio of 3:2:1. Students can win ‘Best in Year’ or ‘Best in School’ awards.
